Table Taboo
The profound power that comes from open and honest conversations, especially around the topics we tend to shy away from.
For years, in my work as a Death Doula, spiritualist & activist, I’ve witnessed the profound power that comes from open and honest conversations, especially around the topics we tend to shy away from. It’s become so clear to me how starved we are for genuine connection, for the space to voice the thoughts that often feel too heavy or too “other” to share in everyday life.
That’s the magic of Table Taboo. It’s a brave and beautiful space where we can set aside the polite surface chatter and delve into the heart of what truly occupies our minds. Think of it as a collective exhale, a chance to finally speak the unspoken in an environment that’s not only safe but also engaging and, dare I say, even fun!
And I’m particularly thrilled that a significant part of our journey together at Table Taboo will involve exploring the landscape of death. Now, I know that word can sometimes feel like a door slamming shut on a conversation. But what if we approached it with curiosity, with a desire to understand and prepare?
Through our Table Taboo gatherings, we’ll gently unpack the multifaceted reality of death, looking at it not as a singular, scary event, but as a natural part of the life cycle.
We'll break it down into practical and profound aspects:
Let’s face it, talking about wills and advance directives isn’t exactly a dinner party favorite. But imagine the peace of mind that comes from having these important pieces in place, knowing you’re honoring your wishes and easing the path for your loved ones. We’ll demystify the process and empower you to take thoughtful action.
When loss touches our lives, navigating the immediate aftermath can feel like walking through a fog. We’ll shed light on the practical steps involved in funeral arrangements, legalities, and all the necessary (but often overwhelming) details.
This is where it gets deeply personal. How do we live our lives fully aware of our mortality? How do we tend to our emotional and spiritual well-being in the face of inevitable loss? We’ll explore what it means to prepare not just logistically, but also with intention and grace.
This is a space for open hearts and curious minds. We’ll explore the myriad beliefs and perspectives surrounding what might lie beyond this earthly experience, encouraging dialogue and allowing space for individual truths and experiences, including honoring the connection with our pets.
My intention for these conversations is not to bring darkness, but rather to illuminate a natural and universal part of life. By bringing these “taboo” subjects into the light, we can cultivate a greater sense of presence, appreciation for life, and connection with one another.
I am so looking forward to sharing this unique and meaningful experience with you at Table Taboo. Hosted by the wonderfully insightful you, and guided by a shared curiosity, I believe we can create something truly transformative. Keep an eye out for our upcoming gatherings – I can’t wait to connect with you and explore these important conversations together. Let’s break down the barriers and embrace the fullness of life, in all its stages!
